THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS
Individual therapy offers a relationship that is dedicated exclusively to you and your development: a space in which we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Whether you’re seeking a deeper understanding of your emotions and relationships, looking for support while going through challenging transitions, or want to learn better ways to manage stress and anxiety, therapy can provide a space where you are safely encouraged to explore the most challenging parts of your life. Individual therapy might be helpful for you if you’re experiencing:
a desire for relief from stress, anxiety, and/or depression
discontent with your current life and desire for change
difficulty navigating a life transition
persistent issues in your relationships
desire to deepen your understanding of yourself and how you relate to others
PERINATAL & MATERNAL SUPPORT
Motherhood is an experience that can elicit complicated and challenging emotions. Many new mothers experience fear, guilt, resentment, grief, lack of identity, and reduced self esteem. Changing hormones and physiology, combined with the unique stressors of life with a new baby, can contribute to prenatal and postpartum anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health and am passionate about supporting mothers through this special time. Together we can address challenges, including:
navigating your new role and identity as a mother
coping with the overwhelming demands of motherhood
managing worry, anxiety, anger/rage, and upsetting thoughts
adjusting to changes in your marriage/partnership
learning to balance caring for yourself with caring for others
THERAPY FOR PARENTS
Raising a child can be a be an enriching, and transformative experience. It can also be exhausting, stressful, confusing, and triggering. The experience of parenting can challenge one's identity and act as a catalyst to re-evaluate one's relationships and goals. It can also serve as a mirror and a lightning rod for our own unresolved issues, reviving old wounds, exacerbating unhealthy coping mechanisms, and adding complexity to our relationships. As parents, we often spend so much time and energy caring for others, that we often fail to nurture ourselves as we process these changes and experiences.
I provide parents with support to mindfully navigate their parenting journey, whether they are preparing to build a family, transitioning to the “new normal” of parenthood, or adjusting from one stage of family life to another. My clinical background working with children, adolescents, and families, as well as my own experience as a parent, informs this work as I am able to guide parents through difficult moments and phases. This work is focused on each mother or father as an individual, helping them achieve understanding and peace on their own terms, while also navigating family life with more ease, clarity, and joy. Together we can address challenges, including:
parenthood not feeling like you expected
anxiety about not doing it “right”
increased conflict or disconnection with your partner
addressing past trauma or overwhelming feelings about your own past/childhood
changes in your relationship to work/career and difficulty with work/life balance
loss of “self” - chronic unmet needs for your interests, hobbies, and relationships outside of the family
